Nothing has happened really this summer. Batta is home for the summer break. A lot of people either quit or come once in a blue moon- I don't hold my breath that it will stay that way, though. Bailout left for Japan, where no doubt her world will come crashing down when she realizes she can't do half the things she thought she could. I can't wait to hear her complain about getting hit during her first round of shotokan full-contact sparring. We have been working very little iai. Sword sensei is sick, and Head sensei is busy with karate. Foobar, now t-minus 6 months to his black belt test, has suddenly figured out he's screwed. He has no self-defense skills, can't throw the kids closest to his size (all two of them), and the worst of all CAN'T READ HIS MANUAL! Apparently his mom has been reading it for him. It's past sad now. Oh, and after a 3 month hiatus, Wheezy Kid has made his triumphant return. Hasn't changed one bit. I might kill him.
Although I supposed to test for ni-dan this summer, that didn't happen. Head Honcho sensei was just too busy. Instead I will do both my aiki sho-dan and my karate ni-dan on the same date. Bah. It's been a fight to stay interested in martial arts, with all the adults checking out left and right.I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

A Dictionary of Reoccuring Characters
- Batta- a friend, my "grasshopper"
- Benevolent Matriarch/Dictator- our highest rank female. Do not mess with her, or else...
- Chipmunk- a kid with chubby cheeks who doesn't shut up
- Frankenstein- a kid with an unfortunately large forehead. Talentless, and has brother, lil' stein, who is also talentless.
- Fubar/Foobar- a kid for some reason is ranked really high, yet he still talks higher than me.
- Gaggle of Greenies- The green belt children
- Goth kid- an emo kid with serious ADD problem. Takes him 20 minutes to put on a hakama.
- Happy- one of the worst teachers...ever. Besides this, he is also noted for his tenous grasp on human anatomy.
- Head Honcho Sensei- my senseis' sensei
- Head Sensei- pretty self-explanatory, the head teacher
- Lil' Stein- Frankenstein's younger brother
- Lurch- kid who doesn't talk, just grunts. Got through kyu ranks by not making waves, and hopes to do the same with adult ranks- good luck on that one, kid.
- Pitbulls- a group of very large but well-mannered brothers
- Purple People eaters- little group of pretentious purple belts
- Sarge- A former army lady, she's pretty cool.
- Snot Shadow- Snotball's friend
- Snotball- some relation to the Things, and...well, a snotball. Most noted for putting on macara so thick, she's mistaken for a racoon, and for horribly racist comments.
- thing 1 and thing 2- two brothers with a professional mom who are so going to be frat boys when they grow up.
Injuries since starting martial arts
- giant bruise over eye socket- (iai) from sparring with Nerdverd with goshinken stick
- toe joint slippage (aiki)- missing the edge of the mat
- blood blister on index finger (aiki)- from tough session of class
- Kick to the throat (karate)- from a roundhouse kick from my doppleganger during self-defense review.
- turf toe- (karate) from sparring with a purple people eater
- bloody middle toe- (karate) from combination of dry skin and scratchy carpet. Gross factor=8.
- bloody mouth- (iai) from sparring with goshinken stick
- sprained wrist- (aiki) from gyaku gatame on aiki sensei's nidan test
- sprained hip- (karate) from nijushiho
- Sprained big toe (karate)- from tai-otoshi with Sarge
- broken toe (left middle) and turf toe (right toe again)- karate bo-bo kumite
- alvusion fracture- (karate) although it's from wear-and-tear, it went completely in class.
- left wrist sprain (aiki) fromm teaching a white belt
